VAR...are we all looking forward to it?

Surely Nobes will be in double figures this season?

Is it gonna be a leveller or favour the bigger clubs?

I mean any decision regarding contact in the box where :
The ref has given a pen and VAR has disagreed
The ref hasn’t given a pen and VAR has corrected the mistake (ie as should have been with Haller being taken out)

VAR has picked up some handballs by the attackers .... Wolves against Leicester , Man C v Spurs ... but not Newcastle v Watford

I can’t recall one incident where VAR has disagreed with the ref .

Been a few. Man City had a goal disallowed by VAR against Spurs, the other week (for handball). Many City had a goal against us taken away by VAR, against us.

Unless with VAR, the goal doesn't stand, until it has been been checked.

I can’t recall one incident where VAR has disagreed with the ref , either ruling out a pen given or recommending that one should be given where the ref has said no.
That’s in almost 40 Premier league games
If you don’t turn the Haller decision around you might as well not even bother having VAR.
The Villa decision was just plain appalling ludicrously incompetent refereeing
A decision by someone who has never played football and has no understanding of what he is looking at.
Unless you are a Villa fan you just have to laugh at how terrible that decision was.

There were a couple of pen shouts from being at the game that I thought they should have looked at. The ones in the first half were the other end from where I sit but the Haller one was down my end and looked clear at the stadium.

Why no VAR was a total mystery. I wonder if it wasn’t working? That can almost be the only explanation. The Haller one was fucking stonewall. If he’s wearing a shirt with Aguero or Salah written on the back then the ref gives it in real time anyway and it would certainly be looked at.

IF that was looked at with VAR and decided it was still not a penalty then they need to assess who on earth is sitting there reviewing it, because whoever was at our game yesterday clearly doesn’t know the rules.

Said at the start that VAR refs won’t disagree with Pitch refs on penalty decisions as they are their fellow incompetent MATES and will scratch each other’s backs.
I did suspect that VAR wasn’t actually working as there was no indication that the goals had been reviewed.
And the penalty decision on field and on VAR just defies belief.

All very true Sven. Has there yet been a non penalty decision by the on field ref, turned into a penalty by VAR, yet, in any game this season?

Villa incident was a shocker...

Grealish passes the ball wide to a teammate despite being halfway through a fall after getting fouled twice and gets up as soon as he hits the deck. That doesn't look like diving to me...

We then had possibly the worst decision in professional football against Villa at Palace.
Followed by a Newcastle player accidentally handling the ball before Schar scored. After all the palaver when Spurs got away with that being picked up at City Watford get done by the VAR cunts and lose 2 points.

Bit pointless having VAR if you’re never gonna use it.
It’s now just become about checking goals while no other decision is looked at.

Few clear & obvious mistakes across the country yesterday and VAR didn’t change one of them.

Can only presume it wasn't working yesterday. 7 incidents in the man City game and apparently not one yesterday. Even without VAR the ref had no excuse for missing the penalty.

Two pens we've missed out on so far

Typical new system same outcome as the old system! there will will always be some plume making a decision somewhere, probably the VAR room is packed with millennials whose main concern is what to put in their VAPE machine!

It will help us out before the season is done - but it is slowing down the game less - that's a good thing.

I thought the new law or explanation of it referred specifically to accidental handball in the build up to a goal not necessarily by the scorer.

I still say a Watford player accidentally handled the ball on the byeline when Anderson tried to cross.
And the ball went all the way to the other end of the pitch in the BUILD UP to Watford’s goal without us touching it. No goal

VAR is pretty shit, IMHO.

But not as bad as the new handball rule which is ridiculous. The ball flies around at pace: if it simply collides with an arm, that is not a "foul". Or shouldn't be.

The game will be officiated to death.
